Singapore Red Cross Society hosted the 4th Youth Donor Camp 2008 and two members from RAVEN Blood Donor Club had been officially invited.

This Youth Donor Camp is Regional Camp, this is the first time inviting the blood donors from Malaysia, Myanmar, Thai, Laos, Vietnam, Philippines, Hong Kong, The Republic of China and Pakistan.

As Myanmar participants, 2 members from Myanmar Red Cross and 2 from RAVEN Blood Donor Club had been officially invited. RAVEN Blood Donor Club members were the only invitees to this event besides the Red Cross.

We supplied again the food to the Nargis victims from No. 125 Qtr., East Dagon Township on behalf of donors at June 28 2008. The estimated number of benefactors were around 700 people.

So far after Nargis, we supplied the rice bags to the people from South Dagon Township (Nyaung Nat Pin Village Group) at June 22, 2008. Firstly we distributed the tokens to each household unit who are very poor and struggling to survive after Nargis. Then we supplied the rice bag, instant noddle, coffee-mix, some clothes and washing powder bag for each token.

This village is also located at the bank of Hlaing River and there is not much toilets in the village.We built the 4 public toilets in this village as a rebuilding project after Nargis. At June 20 2008, we transferred the toilets to the villagers.

We distributed the Water Purification Tablets to the 10 villages from Bogalay Township. We went to Bogalay at June 11, 2008. The list of villages where we did the clean water project are Sat Kyun, Kyain Kyaung Kyi, Kyun Tayar, Khar Chin Kyun, Put Lone Tine, Kyat Pyay, Kyaung Pate, Ma Kyin Myaing, Pate Chaung and La Wyaing Kyun. After we did the project effectively, we returned to Yangon at June 17, 2008.

To survey the requirements, RAVEN BDC went to Laputta township with Handy Myanmar Group who were rebuilding the budget hut in this region. We stayed there from June 7 to June 12 2008. We went around at least 6 villages. These villages are still needing the public toilets.

An account of successful medical assistance and relief operations to cyclone victims after one month

After 48 hours cyclone Nargis had devastated, an executive member of RAVEN BDC and a voluntary doctor went to cyclone affected townships in Yangon such as Daw Pone, Tar Kay Ta, South Dagon , Dagon Myothit(North), Dagon Myothit(South). They then made discussions and requested for permission from local monks to provide medical aids and treatments to cyclone victims.

Started from 8th of May 2008 until 7th of June today, in a period of exactly one month, a total of 4275 patients had been treated successfully in 34 areas including various townships in Yangon State and DayDaYae Tsp in Ayyarwady State.

RAVEN DBC would like to thank gratefully to all voluntary doctors who were involved in the relief activities, members of RAVEN DBC, those who donated blood, volunteers, donors who helped us with monetary support to cover our relief expenses, as well as specialists who supported us with technical aids in order for our activities to be successful.

The blood groups of both father and mother affect the blood group of their child. Every parent might want to know the possible blood type of their child even before giving birth. The various blood groups such as A, B, O are quite complicated to understand if one does not know about them very well. That is because of existence of the O antigen. It is possible for a person to have not only A antigen but also antigen O even though his/her blood type is A. That person is supposed to be AA or AO genotype. Likewise, a person with blood type B can be BB or BP genotype. Although it is recorded on your IC as blood type B, your actual blood group can differ, with the possibility of being an AO type. For example....

AB	AB blood type
BO or BB	B blood type
OO	O blood type

The reason why the blood group of child can be O even both of the parents hold the blood group of A is because of the parents’ genotype being the AO. But the child born by both parents’ blood type being Os can ONLY have the blood type of O. This is because blood type O does not contain any A or B genotype.

Our RAVEN club & BBHC Group united to send out two medical teams to East, South & North Dagon Myo Thit since 8th May till today to give free medical assistance to cyclone victims and monks. We started out with one medical team. Later on, many more doctors, medical students and youth volunteers joined us. So, we divided the medical team to two and provided basic medical needs of the public, including the medicines. We sent the people who needed to get X-rayed to clinics near the San Pya Hospital to take X-rays and also guided two patients who needed to be hospitalized to the hospital on our expense. The common health problems seen in cyclone victims were paranoia, common cold, cut wounds, and various dermatological problems like craps.

The medical team provided free medical assistance to the public from morning 10 am to 3 pm in the evening by the permission of the head monks at the monasteries in Several quarters of Dagon Myo Thit Tsp, more specifically No.(55), No.(12), No.(17) and No.(140) quarters in South Dagon Myo Thit, Ywar Thar Gyi in East Dagon Myo Thit, & Myo Oo Pagoda in North Dagon Myo Thit. We also distributed information on basic medical knowledge such as boiling water before drinking and taking good care of personal hygiene, to prevent cholera. We had already given medical assistance to nearly 3000 patients from all around Yangon as to this moment.

By the sponsorship of a big company, our RAVEN club was able to distribute clean water to townships in the West District of Yangon starting from 8th May. The townships included in the distribution process were Mayangone, San Chaung, Ahlone, Bahan & Dagon. For those places that were harder to get clean water, we provided dynamo motors to pump the water out from the ground onto tanks and ponds. The public were to come to those tanks & ponds to carry the water back home. Since it was pumped out water, the need to boil it before drinking was also warned of. For the public to be provided with enough water for usage there were routine pumping-operators in each street day and night. This water-provision program is still running till now.

At 13th May 2008, our RAVEN club donated food to refugee camps in Dala Township. WE got the funding for this donation from the Cyclone Relief Fund. We went to the Rice Warehouse with (23) bean packs at Hlaing Thar Yar Industrial Zone (2) at around 9AM in the morning. At the Rice warehouse, we picked up (200) packs of rice and went to Dala Tsp after checking the quality of the rice inside the packs, changing instantly every rice pack of poor quality to good one. Since the river-crossing ship had been temporarily out of service, we had to go from Hlaing Thar Yar to get to Dala Tsp.

We got to Dala township at noon. Once our truck went into Kyansitthar quarter, children came out to collect the donation thinking we were going to distribute the donated rice. It was quite an effort to explain them that we couldn't distribute the rice just yet. So, we called up Dala Township's MaYaKa to tell the authorities that we were there to donate rice and head of MaYaKa told us to send the truck carrying donated rice to the head quarters. We replied that we were already at the refugee camp in Kyansitthar quarter so, we would unload the rice packs there and that since we have got the truck with us, we would went on to distribute rice packs to other refugee camps. So, we got the permission to unload the rice packs at the refugee camp, instead of Township Peace and Development Council Office. Over 2000 homes were destroyed and more than 10000 people were affected by Nargis in Kyansitthar quarter.

After donating at Kyansitthar quarter, we headed to West Monastery refugee camp in Kamakasit quarter. After getting the permission from the head monk, we carried the rice packs in to the Monastery. At the monastery, the medical teams from Myanmar Muslims Association were giving medical assistance to the refugees at the camp. The MMA would also set-up a water-cleanser worth 3000000 Ks, said the authorities from the MMA.

We also donated rice packs to the Middle Monastery just beside West Monastery. Although Middle Monastery got monks residing then, the head monk was donating everything they received by cooking meals everyday and donating them to the quarters in Dala township. They showed us the food cooked by monks and the helpers. They cooked fish curry that day. The head monk said that they were going to cook pea curry with the pea packs that we donated.

After donating the two monasteries at Kamakasit quarter, we marched off to the refugee camp set up at a middle school in Tapin Shwe Htee township. This camp had been out of rice and they were going to cook dinner with the rice that we donated. The children were quite happy for that.

After donating there, we went along to Myoma(4) quarter. It was over 4 pm then. The truck had to go around the fallen trees and electric wires hanging down. When we got to the primary school at Myoma(4) quarter, we unloaded the rice packs. The jeep that was driving before us had to fix the spoiled brake at the Tapin Shwe Htee township. So, we informed the authorities at Myoma(4) refugee camp about it and to direct the jeep to west Aun Gyee area when they passed through the camp.

Our truck reached the destination, which was west Aun Gyee quarter at 5 pm in the evening. We saw the meals were donated by the middle monastery there that day. A crowd was queuing for the dinner packs. There, we dispatched the rice packs and had dinner at the nearby teashop and noodle salad shop. After the jeep and the group left behind fixing the brake arrived, we went back to Yangon at around 6:30 pm. Since the rain was wild and the cars weren't in good condition, we had to drive slowly back to Yangon and we got back when it was nearly 9 pm.

As soon as the Nargis cyclone was over, The RAVEN club has directly went the affected areas along the Hlaing river bank, and helped to the injuried victims by the first aids. We have made a record of destructions, foods, clean water and the basic health care in the township. There have been 4 people dead in Ah Lone township because of the cyclone. Three more people were dead because of the fallen tree onto the home and one was by a ship that reached to the land. A person died because of the fall of the tree.

We discussed with the township concilors and arranged to provide the clean water at the refugee camps for the people who lived at the river bank and deserted because of the flood. For those villagers who had difficulties in returning to the villages within Ton Tay township and Kyi Myin Dine township, we have provided the small ship with the help of Myanmar Fishery Department so that they could go back without any trouble.

The Hlaing Ther Yar Fire Victims camp for fire victims has been closed at 12 of March 2008. It was closed officially since March 9. As there were over one thousand homeless fire victims, it was extended to 12 March. The donation was not be able to have carried out when it was stilled opened. The reasons are that late money transfer from Singapore because of decrease in money transfer rate and waiting for foreign donors to transfer money. It was initially planned to have donated on 12 of March, but we did not have a chance to donate as the authorities have shut down the fire victims camp.

With the arrangements by Yangon Western District Peace and Development Council, it was set to donate on March 18. We have received the exact statistic of fire victims and household from Hlaing Ther Yar Township Peace and Development Council. Before the donation day, every night they announced street by street using loudspeakers that Village Peace and Development Council was going to distribute the donated items, under the instruction of Hlaing Ther Yar Township Peace and Development Council.

On March 18 Tuesday, morning 7:30 am, the members and the volunteers from Raven BDC have departed. We arrived to Yay Oakkan market place, where the refugee was existed, for the distribution of donated items. The previously arranged place, No.(16) Basic Education Primary School, did not have enough spaces because of temporary shacks when the refugee was opened. With the helps from council members of the township, we systematically distributed money, clothes, books, eggs, steel spoons in order to make sure that every household has received.

A total of 2905 clothes was donated for 1207 families.

Apart from that, (Kyat) 603,500 was donated for 1207 families. Each of which was distributed (Kyat) 500. A thousand of fire victim family were donated over 2000 eggs (Valued Kyat 200,000) where each family received 2 eggs. 600 dozens of books were also donated to them as each family was distributed 6 books.

Bloggers from Yangon also volunteer during distribution of donated itmes. The donation which started at 12:30 pm was finished at 5:30 pm.

What we did were neither to be rich nor famous. It was based on the social morality that to help the needy people. We collect star fish according to the amount we could.

Therefore, we, Raven BDC, were grateful to the donors, friends who collected donation money, buddies, members from Native Myanmar Forum, Wave of Light Organization, Red Cross comrade, the authorities, the volunteers from Raven BDC.

Our club donated a total of 2 blood bottles which are AB and O types. A 30-years-old woman patient who needed AB blood was from Shwe Kyin town, Bago division. The blood was needed for surgical termination of ectopic pregnancy. The patient has been hospitalizing at Thingan Kyoon, San Pya hospital. The other patient who needed O blood was again the boy from Mhan Pin village, Kalay Wa town, Sit Kine division whom we have donated once. He was in Children Hospital because of leukemia.

The Chief of Muslim Charity Hospital from Bar street connected the patient guardians with the club. Hence, they knew about the club, contacted us and requested. Afterward, we searched for the AB blood donor, and went to Thingan Kyoon, San Pya Hospital at 4:00 pm in the evening. Upon arrival, the blood pressure was tested. The blood pressure was over the normal. It might be occurred because of travelling long distance. Otherwise, the blood pressure monitor was not accurate. After a short rest, the donor was found at normal blood pressure. Later, the type and haemoglobin of the blood were tested. The donation was started at 5:00 pm, and ended at 5:30. We treated the donor, sent off him at 6:00 pm and back to the club at 7:00 pm.

The patient guardians from the Children hospital called us to have donated a bottle of O type blood at 3:00 pm. We subsequently searched for the O type blood donor, and reached to the hospital at 4:00 pm. Upon arrival, blood and haemoglobin testing were carried out at 4:30 pm. We have waited for the result, and got it at 6:00 pm. Having no disease in blood, the donation was started just over 6:00 pm, and done at 6:30 pm. We treated the donor and sent off home at 7:00 pm.

Our club has again donated a bottle of A type blood on 16 of March. The patient was the same person who was a 17-years-old boy from Myin Chan town, and also asked for the A type blood yesterday. He has been hospitalized at the blood department of the Yangon Hospital because of the leukemia.

Around 12:00 pm, the patient guardians themselves came to the club and requested again as they needed one more bottle of A type blood. Thus, we searched for the A type blood donor and went to the Yangon Hospital along with the patient guardians around 12:30 pm. The donor was tested for the diseases and hemoglobin. The result from the lab was out around 2:00 pm. Since there is no problem, the donation was started before 2:30 pm. At 3:00 pm, the donation was finished, the club treated the donor and sent off home at 4:00 pm.

Our club donated a bottle of A type blood on 15 of March. This time, the patient was a 17-years-old boy who has been hospitalized at the blood department of the Yangon Hospital because of the leukemia. He lives in extended new town, Myin Chan.

Around 2:30 pm, the patient guardians themselves came to the club and asked for help in getting a bottle of A type blood. There was an A type blood donor already at that time. Therefore, we went to the Yangon Hospital together with them. Since being Saturday, we had to wait quite a long time to have tested for the disease and hemoglobin due to the insufficient staffs. The result from the lab was out around 4:30 pm. Since there is no problem, the donation was started before 5:00 pm. At 5:00 pm, the donation was finished, the club treated the donor and sent off home at 6:00 pm.

Our club donated a bottle of B type blood on 11 of March. The patient was a 87-years-old man. He has been hospitalizing at the General Hospital a.k.a. Japan Hospital because he has been suffereing from blood leakage in intestine. He lives in Hlaing teacher residence, Parami street.

Around 11:00 am, the patient guardian called us from the hospital and requested for a bottle of B type blood. Therefore, we searched for the B type blood donors. After we have found a donor, we went to the Japan Hospital at 12:30 pm. Upon arrival, the necessary documents were taken and we headed to the national blood bank with the patient guardian. There did all the blood testing and hemoglobin testing. After that, the blood donation was started at 3:00 pm in the evening. We sent off the donor at 3:30 pm after the donation was finished and back to the club house at 4:00 pm.

Our club have donated a bottle of O blood type on March 10. This time, the patient was a 12-years-old boy. He had leukemia and was at the Children Hospital because of that. He was from Mhan Pin village, Kalay Wa town, Sagaing Division.

Around 3:00 pm in the evening, the patient guardian from the Children Hospital contacted to the club for the donation of a bottle of blood type O. Therefore, we searched for the list of O type blood donors. Later, we got one blood donor, and we headed to the Children Hospital. Upon arrival, blood testing and hemoglobin testing were proceeded. The donation was started at 4:00 pm in the evening and finished at 5:00 pm. We sent off the donor to his home, and we were back to our club around 5:30 pm.

Our club again donated an A-type blood bottle on 3rd of March 2008. The patient lives in Ayeyarwadi street, Ahlone. She is a 71-years-old woman. She was at Asia Royal Hospital for the kidney operation.

A friend of the patient came and requested at Sin Min Township council. The council once again pointed to the club to contact for the donation. Therefore, the club summoned the donor. When the donor was ready, he and an organizer went off to the Asia Royal Hospital at 10:00 am. After the necessary blood testing, we have waited for the result. While waiting, the club treated the donor with a lunch meal. The result was out at 2:00 pm. Since there was no problem, the donation was accomplished. We offered the donor with the soft drink, and finally sent off him to home at 3:00 pm in the evening.

Our club donated a bottle of A type blood on 27th February of 2008. The patient is a 40-years-old man from Than Lhynn. He had been suffering a kind of blood-related disease, and getting the treatment at Yangon General Hospital (Japan Hospital). At 11:00 pm, the patient guardian called the club and requested a bottle of A type blood for the transfusion. After the search for the blood donor, we went to the hospital at 11:30 am. After meeting the patient guardian and finishing the paperwork, we headed again to the Yangon Hospital where the blood bank located. Being on Sunday was the reason of less staff, and it led us to wait for a long time for blood testing. The result was out at 4:00 pm. There was no obstacle towards the blood donation. After that, we sent off the donor, and back to the club at 5:30 pm.

Our club once again donated two bottles of O type blood on 25th of February 2008. The patient was a 48-years-old woman who lives in 19th township, New Dagon (South). She would need blood for the operation of removing the uterus at South Oakkalarpa Women Hospital.

The patient guardian requested for the two bottles of O type blood on 10:00 am, 25th February. Therefore, we searched for the O type blood donors, and led them to the hospital for the blood donation, at 11:00 am. We met the patients and her guardian while the donors were taking a rest. 11:15 am, blood testing and hemoglobin test were processed. Since the result is ready, the donation started at noon, 12:30 pm. The club treated the donors with the cold drinks after the that. Later, we sent off the blood donors at 1:00 pm and we were back to the club at 2:00 pm.

Our club donated a bottle of blood type A on 21st of February. The patient was a 46-years-old woman. She had a tumor on the breast, and has been hospitalizing at Thin Gan Kyoon Hospital to operate and remove that tumor. She lives in Aung Than Pyay 2nd street, Thin Gan Kyoon. At the noon of 20th of February, the patient guardian called the club and requested a bottle of blood type A which would be needed on the following day, 21st of February. Therefore, we again contacted a donor of blood type A. An organizer from the club took the donor to the hospital on 8:00 am of 21st February. Upon arrival to the hospital, blood testing and blood pressure test were performed. Blood donation was started on 9:00 am and ended at 9:30 am in the morning. There was a treat of cold drinks to the donor supported by the club after the donation. We sent the donor back to home, and arrived back to the club on 10:00 am.

There was another donation of a bottle of blood type O, again on the same day. The patient was a 49-years-old man who is from South Dagon. He had been hospitalizing at the Thin Gan Kyoon Hospital for the kidney operation. Once we have delivered our club pamphlet in "Tha Mar Daw " pharmacy store which was located in front of the hospital. That store appointed the patient guardians so that they could ask help from the club for the blood donation. They contacted us and requested a bottle of blood type O at 10:00 am in the morning. Hence, the club searched for a O type blood donor and went to the hospital at 10:15 am. The donation was started at 12:00 pm after the blood test and hemoglobin test. After that, we treated the donor with the cold drinks. Finally, we sent back the donor to home and back to club at 2:30 pm.

Our club donated a bottle of blood type O on 18th of February. The patient was a 75-years-old woman who lives in 17th Sein Pan Myaing, South Dagon. She has been suffering from swollen intestinal, and vomitted blood. As a result, she needed blood transfusion. The hospital she has been was Thin Gan Kyoon, San Pya Hospital.

The patient's guardian contacted the club to donate O type blood on 3 pm in the evening of 18th of February. Therefore, we tried to search and contact O type blood donor. After that, we went to the hospital at 3:30 pm. We took a rest when we reached to the hospital. Testing for blood type, blood pressure, hemoglobin were carried out at 4:00 pm in the evening. After donation at 5:00 pm, our club offered the cold drinks to the donor. In the end, we sent off the donor to home at 5:00 pm, and back to the club at 6:00 pm.

Our club donated a bottle of blood type O on 17th of 2008 February. The patient was a 68-years-old woman who is from Sin Phyu Taung village, Sin Paung Wel, Magway Division. Ignoring her diabetes, she used traditional medicine, and it made her condition worse. Eventually, her legs had to be operated, so she had been at Thingan Gyoon San Pya Hospital for that.

The patient guardian contacted the club for the donation of 2 blood bottles of type O, around noon. Therefoe, we searched for the blood donors. When we got 3 donors, we headed to the hospital around 12:30 pm. After the blood testing, two of them could not donate because of the low blood pressure. Only the one who passed all the testing could manage to donate, and the donation started at 1:30 pm. The blood donors were treated with cold drinks, and sent off them. We were back to the club at 3:00 pm, and arranged so that we could donate the required blood type O.

Our BDC was able to donate a bottle of type B blood at February 12 (The Union Day). The patient who needed it was a 64-years-old woman who lives on Tapin Shwe Htee Street at No. (36) Quarter in North Dagon Township and she was in Thingan Gyun San Pya General hospital due to a digestive tract disease.

The patient's family called for help at 8pm on February 11th for a bottle of type B blood. So that was when we started to look for an available donor from our list. After we had found one, we arranged for the donation at 9 am the next morning. We took the donor to the San Pya hospital at 9 am this morning and arrived at the hospital by 9:30 am. After all the necessary tests were done, the donation started at 10:30 am. It was at noon that the process was finished and the patient's family treated the donor with lunch. After that, our Raven BDC sent the donor home and we all arrived back to our destination by 11;30 am.

Raven BDC helped in donating two bottles of type A blood at February 9th 2008, to a 56-years-old women who was suffering internal bleeding due to rupture of blood vessels in stomach. She was being hospitalized at Thingan Gyun General Hospital (San Pya) and was living at Yay Nant Thar Street, in Thuwanna Township.

Since the night before, the patient's family asked for help so, we were able to find donor who have the necessary blood type. On February 9th at 1 pm noon, our BDC guided the two donors the hospital where the donation must take place. After arriving to the hospital and after the necessary procedures being carried out, it was already 2 pm. That was when the blood donation started. The donors were treated with drinks after that and we sent them back home. Members of our Raven BDC who participated that day all got back to the club by 4 pm.

At February 5th 2008, our Raven Blood Donor group donated a bottle of type A blood to a patient from Bahose Hospital in Ahlone Township. The patient was a 61-years-old high-school teacher who lives in Kyee Myin Tine School Road. She had asked for blood at January 29th when she was going into operation for her Anal Cancer. Now, after the surgery, her blood pressure was low and still needed blood for the recuperation process.

At 8pm on February 4th, the patient's family asked our BDC to donate a bottle of type A blood the next day. So, we were able to search for the donor since then. Our BDC and the donor went to the Bahose Hospital at 8 am in the morning on 5th February. As usual, the procedure that must be done before giving blood had to be carried out and was usual we had to wait for some hours there for the results to come out. At 11:45 am, the results came out and therefore, we were only able to start the blood donation at 12 noon. After that, our Raven BDC treated and sent the donor back home.

Today (February 2nd, 2008), our Raven BDC was able to donate 1 bottle of B type blood to a 43-years-old patient at S. Okkalarpa Women and Children Hospital. She was suffering from postpartum haemorrhage. The patient lives at Kyaw Thu 17th St., S. Okkalarpa Township.

At 9 am in the morning, with the Hospital's guidance the patient's family called us for a bottle of B type blood. So, the group called up the suitable donor listed on our volunteer donor list for the donation. Our Raven BDC reached the Hospital at 11 am with the donor and the necessary procedures before the blood donation, such as blood type testing, blood pressure testing and haemoglobin testing were done. As soon as these procedures were finished, the actual blood transferring process began, which was at about 12 noon. After everything was done, the Raven BDC treated the donor with snacks and drink and sent the donor back home. We were back by 2 pm that day.

Our Blood Donor Club donated 1 bottle of AB type blood last January 30th 2008. The patient was a 39 years old pregnant woman from Quarter No. (15), South Okkalarpa Township. She was waiting for a natural birth at South Okkalarpa Women and Children Hospital. Although her pregnancy was already due, the infant seemed to be making no movement at all inside the wound. So, her pregnancy was regarded as dangerous and was decided to use surgical operation instead of waiting for the natural birth. Therefore, we donated 1 bottle (between 450 ml~600 ml) of needed blood for the surgical procedure.

At around 3:30 pm in the afternoon, the patient's family called in for help from the South Okkalarpa Hospital. Fortunately, we have already found a donor by then. So, we made contact with the donor and went to the Hospital at about 4 pm in the evening. When we got there, the donor was tested for blood pressure, blood type and hemoglobin percentage present in the blood. After all the necessary procedures before donating the blood were done, the actual donation process began around 4:45 pm. When it was done, our BDC treated the donor with fried rice, sent him back home and by 5:30 pm, we were back to the club already. The news followed after was that the surgery was successful and both the mother and the child are perfectly healthy. It was a true pleasure to know that we were able to save two lives that day and it is that invaluable joy that makes all this hard work worthy.

Our club donated 1 bottle of blood type A and 2 bottles of blood type O on 29th of January 2008. Blood A is for a 24-years-old lady. She has been hospitalizing at Thin Gan Kyoon San Pya Hospital because of a blood related disorder. She is from South Dagon. 2 bottles of O type blood were for a 38-years-old woman who has been hospitalizing at South Oakkala Women hospital. The blood was need for the Anaemia, and also for the operation of removing the dead embryo from the uterus. She also lives in South Dagon.

The San Pya Hospital contacted the club for the blood transfusion for a patient, at around 10:00 in the morning. Therefore, we searched for a donor and brought to the hospital. We reached to the hospital at 12:00. After the blood testing, the donation began at 12:30 pm. The club treated the donor with some cold drinks, and back to home at around 1:30 pm.

A patient from the South Oakkala hospital contacted the club to donate 2 O-type-blood bottles. Therefore, the club had to search for O type blood donors. The patient actually needed two bottles, but there was only one donor at that moment. An organizer from the club led the blood donor to the hospital not to delay. The donation was finished at 5:00 pm after the blood testing was satisfied. Sent the donor back to the home after finishing. Another organizer and the another blood donor got off to the hospital at 7:00 pm. After testing the blood, another blood donation was finished at 8:00 pm. Finally, sent back that donor to his home after completing the donation.

On 28th of January 2008, the club has donated a total of 3 blood bottles in which 2 of them are O types and 1 of A type. The patient who needed blood type O was suffering from Gastrointestinal disease, and he is a 56-years-old man. He is from Waw town, Bago Division. He was staying at Yan Aung, Thin Gan Kyoon, and had been hospitalizing at Thin Gan Kyoon San Pya hospital. The club has donated 2 bottles of blood once on 14th of January. At that time, the blood was actually needed for the Gastrointestinal operation, but they were used in blood transfusion because of the Anaemia. This time, the blood was needed again for the operation.

The patient guardian called and requested to the club to donate 2 bottles of O type blood at around 10:00 am. Therefore, the club tried to find the blood donors. Upon the appearance of two blood donors, an organizer from the club led them to the Thin Gan Kyoon San Pya hospital at 11:00 am. . The blood pressure and hemoglobin of the two blood donors were checked, and the blood donation started at 11:30 am in the noon. After the donation, the blood donors were treated with cold drinks. They were sent off to their homes 12:30 pm and back to the club at 1:30 pm.

The patient who needed blood type A is a teacher from a high school of Ahlone Township. She lives in Kyi Myin Dine School street, and she is 61 years old. The blood was requested beforehand because she scheduled to do a surgery operation for anal cancer, on 29th January. Form the Baho Si Hospital, the guardians of the patient contacted the club for donation. Therefore, the club searched for the donors in the Ahlone township. After we have met the donors, we went off to the hospital by the guardian's car of the patient. The blood test and the blood pressure were tested in the hospital at 8:00 pm. The result out was nearly 10:00 pm. Since the result was satisfied, 1 bottle of blood type A was transfused to donate at 10:00 pm. After the blood donation, we said parting words and went back to home around 10:30 pm.

Our BDC donated one bottle of blood type B on 27th January. The patient is a 77-years-old woman and lives in 5th Street, Lanmadaw. She has been hospitalizing at the Baho-Si Hospital to do an operation for the disorder of the colon.

The guardians of the patient called the club and requested to donate one bottle of blood type B on that day. Therefore, we had to find the donor of blood type B. After we have found the donor, we hired a taxi and got off to the hospital at 10:00 am. The blood sample has been taken to test the type, the pressure and hemoglobin. Result from the laboratory was out around 11:00 am. Since there was no disease found, the blood was donated. The guardians of the patient sent us off to the home and reached at around 12:30 pm.

At 10th January of 2008, the club donated total of 4 blood bottles which are 2 of AB group and 2 of B group. The patient who needed the 2 bottles of blood type AB was a 17-years-old lady. She lives in Pha Sa Pa La compound of Mingalar Taung Nyaunt Township. The health problem is leukemia. She has been hospitalizing for over one year at Yangon General Hospital. She was transfused for over 100 bottles of blood.

The patients asked the club for help at 8:00 pm of 9 January. The club contacted and informed the AB type blood donors to sleep early because the lack of sleep could affect their blood pressure. At 10 January 10:00 AM in the morning, the blood donors were asked to come to a tea shop. We went to the hospital as soon as all arrived. The patient's uncle welcomed us when we reached to the national blood center. The blood pressures and types of blood donors were checked, and found out that one out of three was the blood type B. Therefore, the two donors donated at the blood bank. After donation, the donors cheered up the patient. After that, the patient treated the donors.

During blood donation arrangement, the organizer of the club were asked whether we could help to donate the blood type B for a 13-years-old girl. The problem of the patient was having less red blood cells than the white blood cells. Therefore, the red blood cells of blood type B are required to transfuse. The patient lives in Mayang Gone Street 1 of Ton Tay. Since the blood type of one of the blood donors was Type B, it was ready and good for the patient. The require amount of hemoglobin was also enough. One bottle of B type blood was donated at the national blood bank. The donation was finished at half past ten in the morning.

While saying some parting words to the AB blood patient,beside him there was a patient who was suffering from leukemia. The guardian of that patient asked the help to donate one bottle of B type blood. The patient who lives in Thu Wunna. He is a 41-years-old man. So, there was a need to search for a blood donor. The hospital contacted the club and asked to find the blood donor. They asked the club to contact to hand phone of the patient guardian and wait at the blood bank when the donor was ready. It was 1:30 pm when the donor reached to the hospital. He was asked to rest for a while. After that, check the blood pressure and hemoglobin. The donation began at 2:30 pm and finished at 3:00 pm. The club sent off the donor after the blood donation.

The club donated one bottle of blood type A at Karen New Year Day. The patient was being hospitalized at Yangon General Hospital. One of her kidneys was spoiled and needed blood transfusion for renal transplant for chronic renal failure. She lived in Myay Ni Gone, San Chaung Township and is 47-years-old.

On that day, we indeed went to donate AB blood. The amount of hemoglobin in the blood of donor was not enough to donate the blood. At that time the husband of the guardian of the patient who needed A type blood found the club and requested to get help and donate blood. Therefore, the club tried to find the blood donors. Since it was the public holiday, there were fewer blood donors. At that time, there were four monks who came to donate blood to a patient. One of them was not having blood type B but A. Hence, we proposed the monk to donate blood. He agreed that because his main purpose was to donate blood. After that, we arranged for the patient's guardian to meet with the monk and brought the required documents. Later on, continue with the testing of the blood and hemoglobin. When the blood was being tested in the laboratory, the guardian of the patient donated the soft drink to the monk. Donation started at around 2:00 pm and ended at 3:00 pm. We hired a cab to sent him back to Nat Mout Street, Tamwe Township, the Su Htoo Pan Pa Yi Yat Hti Shwe Kyin monastery where he resided. Finally, the club has supported for the donation of a blood bottle on Karen New Year Day.

Our club has donated two bottles of B type blood on 7th of January 2008. The patient has been hospitalized at Thin Gan Kyoon (San Pya) Hospital. He is 45-years-old. He lives in Myeik, Ta Nin Ther Yi Division. He is suffering from TB (Tuberculosis).

The guardian of the patient contacted to the club to donate B type blood since January 5th. It was arranged to donated on Monday, today. The club searched for a donor. We have proposed to the monks from the monastery around since there was only one blood donor. Hence, a monk followed and donated the blood. We went to the San Pya Hospital with the two donors at noon. The donors were checked for the blood pressure and hemoglobin after resting for a while. Blood donation started at 12:30 pm. The club offered some cold drinks to the monk donor and the another donor after the donation. The pamphlets of the Raven Blood Donor club were distributed at the San Pya Hospital so that they could contact to the club if there was a need for donating blood. At 2:30 pm, the club sent off the donors and back to home at 3:00 pm in the evening.

Our club donated a bottle of O blood on January 6. The patient was a 72-years-old woman. She need the blood because of the leakage of blood capillary from the brain. She lives in Htee Tan, Kyi Myin Dine Township.

On January 6th 8:00 am in the morning, a teacher from B.E.H.S 6 Ahlone contacted the club and requested to donate the blood for her mother. The club searched an O type blood donor. Around 11:00 pm, we arrived to the Yangon Hospital. Later, we met the patient guardian and took the required document to proceed at National blood department. There were few staffs since it was Saturday. As a result of it, there were more of blood donors waiting for blood test. The donor was tested for the blood type, hemoglobin on his turn. The blood sample was sent to the laboratory to check for the disease. The patient guardian treated the donor with lunch while waiting for the result. The result from the lab was out at 2:00 pm. We waited until our turn to donate blood. It was finished at 3:00 pm. We sent the donor back to his home and reached back to the club at 4:00 pm in the evening.

Our blood donor club again donated a bottle of AB blood on Myanmar's Independence day, January 4th. The patient was from Asia Royal Hospital. He was from Aung Pan, Shan State, and 50 years old. He needed blood transfusion after his operation for the heart. A total of 13 blood bottles was transfused before.

Yesterday around 8:30 p.m., the patient guardian from the special ward called the club to help in donation of an AB blood bottle. It was the second time because they have informed a week before. Since the club had a donor instant, we prepared for the registration. After that, we left to Asia Royal around 9:00 p.m. for the blood test.

Upon arrival to the hospital, a doctor check the blood pressure and then we proceeded at blood laboratory. We had to wait for a while because a monk was tested for the blood. They stored the blood to test. We sent the donor back to home at about 11:00 p.m. because the result would only be out the next day.

After the blood result was out on 9:00 a.m. in the morning, they called to come and donate blood afternoon. We brought the donor to the hospital and waited for the transfusion. The donation was started at 12:00 pm and ended at 1:00 pm. We sent back the donor after all.

The blood donor club donated a bottle of blood type A at January 3rd of 2008. The patient lives in Gandamar Street, Sanchaung Township. She is 48-years-old woman. She had been treated at South Okkalapa Women and children Hospital (Catholic Hospital) in order to cure a uterus disease.

Since January 2nd 8:00 a.m., the hospital indicated the patient guardian to the club, and they contacted us for the donation of blood.

They requested us to come at January 3rd because the patient was arranged for the operation on that day. Therefore, we brought the donor to the hospital on 3rd January, 8:00 a.m. After the medical check up, the donation began at 9:38 a.m. The club sent off the donor after the donation

Our Raven BDC donated a bottle of type B blood at December 31st 2007 to a patient who was waiting for operation for her ectopic pregnancy. She lives in 2nd Street of 18th Quarter, at South Dagon Township. Raven BDC donated 2 bottles of B type blood at December 30th. The guardians of the patient asked for 2 more bottles the next day.

There wasn't enough members at the new branch of Raven BDC in East District of Yangon. So, they had to ask for help to the West District BDC to send volunteer donors that has B type blood at 9:30 AM on December 31st. Unfortunately, there wasn't enough donors at the West District club either (some were at work, some were still under due to donate again, etc.). At last, two donors were found and Raven BDC & donors went out to the Hospital and got to the South Okkalapa Women and Children Hospital by 2 PM. When we tested the blood pressure of the donors before the transfusion, one didn't have high enough blood pressure. Therefore, he wasn't able to donate. The other one and the member waited to test for contageous diseases at the blood bank for more than half-an-hour. After the test, Raven BDC treated the donor with lunch since the donor hadn't eaten anything. After the lunch, we got back to the hospital to find the test results. There, we started the transfusion process. At 3:30 PM, the transfusion was done so, the doctor treated the donors with drinks. The guardians of the patient also gave us cold drink bottles as presents. After that, Raven BDC members sent the donor home and got back to our domain by 4 PM in the evening. This is the report of the last donation done for the year 2007.

Our Raven BDC donated three bottles of A type blood on November 26th 2007. The patient was a 10-years-old boy from Toon Tay Township in Pyaw Bwe, who was admitted at the Children's Hospital with Dengue fever. The boy's father called the head of Town council of Toon Tay to help him find a blood donor for his son. The head of town council looked for one in Toon Tay. However the blood type was one barrier that they couldn't jump over. The head of town council had seen us donating blood, so he called us to help donate three bottles of A type blood for the boy. It was 7 PM when he called.

Therefore, Raven BDC searched for the suitable donors and went to the Children's Hospital at 7:45 PM. We got there at 8 PM and looked for the child there. Those attending the child patient, the grandfather and grandmother of the boy, were quite amazed and overjoyed by our arrival, and they didn't know that the donors were asked for by their town council head from Toon Tay.

As usual, the blood bank at the Children's hospital was closed already. So, the doctors from another ward who were in-duty that day at night measured the blood pressure and took the blood sample. This was done by 8:15 PM. We waited at the hospital for the results after that and the results came out at 8:45 PM. After we got the result, we had to wait for the doctors to finish attending the patients at their assigned ward. At 9:15 PM, the blood transfusion started and it ended around 9:30 PM. We sent the donors back home after that. We gave out our Raven BDC pamphlets to make sure that the doctors would be able to contact us when in immediate need of blood arises at the hospital.

Raven BDC donated a bottle of type A blood at November 23rd 2007. The patient was a 82-years-old male from Asia Royal Hospital. He lives in Pazuntaung Township, Yangon. He was suffering from Liver cirrhosis. We also donated one O type blood at October for this same patient.

At November 22nd, the guardian asked for a bottle of O type blood in the morning asking for the donor to be present at Asia Royal Hospital for blood testings. So, we looked for a donor and went to the hospital with a member at 7:30 PM. A sample of blood was taken out to test for blood type and diseases. As usual, the blood results were to be out the next day. Therefore, we sent the donor home that day.

On November 23rd 12:00 noon, the results were out already. We took the donor to Asia Royal hospital and had to wait there for sometime for whatever the reason that we didn't know. We felt as if we were ignored intentionally for no reason. The blood donor should be acknowledged as an important person since he/she's is not a patient, and plays a critical role in saving the patient's life. Finally at 2 PM, the blood transfusion started. It ended at 2:30 PM. Raven BDC sent the donor home and we reached our domain by 3 PM.

On November 14th 2007, a guardian of a patient contacted us to donate AB type blood claiming that a friend from Meditation Camp at Thanlyin Bogyoke Village gave out the Raven BDC. It was told that if in need of blood, Raven BDC could be asked for blood donation anytime. So, the guardian just wanted to ask for help although the blood wasn't needed that time (14th November). We were told that the guardian would like us to help find a donor when the blood was needed for the patient who was an 11-years-old girl suffering from Dengue fever and was admitted to Yangon General Hospital (a.k.a, Japan Hospital) for that. Her address on the hospital form was Zine Ganine South, Pago Division.

On November 15th morning, the patient's guardian called to say there was no immediate need of blood yet till then. Dengue fever's nature is that the patient might need blood anytime while suffering from it and it's unpredictable. So, as we thought, at 2 PM in the evening, we were told that the patients needed blood then. The member, who's the donor himself, drove to the Japan Hospital. The donor took the necessary official forms asking for blood at the blood bank from the patient's guardians and went to the Yangon General Hospital's blood bank to do the blood transfusion. When the donor got there, the blood was tested, the blood pressure was measured and the blood transfusion started at 2:30 PM. Everything was done by 3 PM and the donor came back to Raven domain from the blood bank.

We donated a bottle of A type blood at November 9th, 2007. The blood bank called Raven BDC to donate a bottle of AB type blood at around 11 AM. The patient was a 21-years-old lady who lives at Mahar Myine in North Dagon Township. She was suffering from Dengue fever and was admitted to Yangon General Hospital. A decade ago, Dengue fever was regarded as children's disease but now, it has been seen in many adults lately.

After we got the call, we contacted the AB type blood donor. Since AB type blood is naturally very rare, we had to grab the donor at his snack bar. At 12 noon, Raven BDC and the donor got to the blood bank. We took to necessary forms and did the tests. The blood sample was taken out at 1 PM to test for diseases tranferrable by blood. After the results were out, the transfusion started at 2 PM in the afternoon and ended at 2:30 PM. Raven BDC members sent the donor back home and all of us got back to the Raven domain at 3 PM.

Today Raven BDC was able to donate A type blood and AB type blood, a bottle each. A type blood was for the 46-years-old Japanese patient whom we donated at October 26th. Doctor Daw Thida Aung (Incharge) from blood bank, National Blood Department called for another bottle of blood at October 28th. She also mentioned that since the blood would be taken out with machine, it would be better if the person has experience in this type of blood transfusion. The suitable donor hadn't waited long enough to do another donation but after the doctor confirmed that it was ok for the donor to do another donation, we called up the donor to make appointment for the blood donation at October 29th.

At 10:30 Am on October 29th, the A type blood donor and two members from the Raven BDC went to the blood bank. After measuring the blood bank, we waited for the results for the blood results. On 10:45, the guardians of a 23-years-old patient admitted to the blood ward from South Zine Ganine of Pago Division asked to donate a bottle of AB type blood from the members who were at the hospital that time. Luckily, a member who was there has AB type blood so, we were able to donate blood to the new patient at that same day. Therefore, the blood transfusion for AB type blood started first at 11 AM in the morning. The A type blood was taken by machine at 12 noon. At 2 PM, all the transfusions were done so, we came back from the hospital. The donor got back home at 3:30 PM in the evening.

The Raven BDC donated a bottle of O type blood at October 28th. The patient who needed blood was the grandfather of the member Love2Hate from Native Myanmar Forum's Wave of Light Social Work's group. The patient lives in Pazuntaung Township and he's 82-years-old. He was admitted at Asia Royal Hospital for liver disease. Raven BDC helped donate blood to this patient once before.

The patient's guardian called Raven BDC asking if we could provide a bottle of O type blood the next day, which was October 27th. So, we searched for a volunteer donor and replied that we would be able to help them. At October 28th, 9 AM in the morning, Raven BDc and the donor went to Asia Royal Hospital. At 9:30 Am in the morning, the sample blood was taken from the donor for testing. The blood results from the lab came out a few minutes after 11:00 AM. As soon as we got the results, the blood transfusion started. It was done by 12:30 PM at noon. The donor was sent home by us and we reached back to Raven BDC domain at 1 PM.

Raven BDC donated a bottle of A type blood at October 26th. It was a Japanese patient who was admitted at Yangon General Hospital for Leukimeia. Raven BDC weren't able to collect any data of the patient other than that. It was told that he's a foreigner. It felt wrong to be left out from getting necessary information from the patient like that. Why weren't the donor and our Raven BDC who facilitated in the event permitted to get these informations? It was a weakness of performance in the official procedures that must be carried out for the Raven BDC and the group didn't like the patient's secretiveness. Since it's saving a life, we donated blood without a fuss but it was difficult to keep a record about the donation.

Dr. Daw Thida Aung (Incharge) from National Blood Department called us asking if we could donate a bottle of A type blood with blood transfusion machine at 6 PM on October 25th. So, Raven BDC members and the donor went to the blood bank on 9 AM at October 26th. The blood was tested at 10 AM in the morning. At 11 AM, the blood result was out so, it was piped out with the machine. Since the machine only the plasma and the platelets are taken from the donor's blood and the components are parted out and sent back into the donor, it takes longer. The donation ended at 2 PM in the evening.

Raven BDC donated a bottle of A type blood at October 25th. The patient was a 45-years-old lady who was admitted at Yangon General Hospital for Renal , the same patient that asked for blood at October 23rd.

At 2:30 PM on that day, we were informed that more blood was needed for the patient. So, Raven BDC searched for and took a volunteer donor to the hospital. We had to wait at the hospital when we got there because it wasn't time to do the transfusion yet. At 4 pm, the patient's guardian met us with the official forms needed for the blood donation and we went to the blood bank. The necessary procedures (testing for blood type, blood pressure, contagious diseases etc.) The blood transfusion started as soon as the results came out at 5:30 PM. Raven BDC took the donor home after the transfusion and we got back to the club at 6 PM in the evening.

Raven BDC donated a bottle of A type blood at October 24th. The patient was a 75-years-old male who was admitted at Yangon General Hospital for Renal . He lives in Aung Lan Township, Htae Pin Village. A senior nurse from Cancer ward gave out Raven BDC's number so, the patient's family was able to contact us.

At 4:30 PM, the patient's family called Raven BDC stating the need of A type blood donor. At 5 pm, Raven BDC took a donor to Yangon General Hospital. There at the Renal Ward, the donor went through all the necessary tests. After that, we took the official forms needed for the blood donation and from there we went to the blood bank. The blood transfusion started when the results came out. At 6:30, it was done so, Raven BDC took the donor home after the transfusion. We got back to the club at 7:30 PM.

Raven BDC donated a bottle of A type blood at October 23rd. The patient was a 45-years-old lady who was admitted at Yangon General Hospital for Renal . She lives at Man-Pyay 3rd street, in Thar Kay Ta Township. At 5:30 PM on October 22nd, a member of the patient's family called to Raven BDC asking if we could help him find someone to donate AB type blood for the patient. We were able to reply that we certainly could.

On the next day, October 23rd, Raven BDC took a donor who has AB type blood to Yangon General Hospital at 10 AM in the morning. There, we took the official forms needed for the blood donation procedures and from there we went to the blood bank. At 10:30 AM, the blood type testing was done and the sample blood was sent to the lab. The results from the lab came out at 11:30 noon. So, the blood transfusion started. It ended at 12:30 PM. Raven BDC took the donor home after the transfusion.

Raven blood donor club was established, in July 2006, with the aim of supplying and donating the blood to the patients who are in a need of blood while they are being treated and cured in hospitals and clinics in Yangon. Since there till now, social works are performed ignoring politics, religions and races.
The club members are youths who purely volunteer put their intensities only on social works regardless of the money.
Raven blood donor club is not under any of other social organizations, UN related organizations, International NGOs. Social works are being performed legally with the donated money.
According to National health project ( 2006-2011 ), there is a part stating that is to support and promote the health care of the nation with the cooperation of Non-government social organizations. Raven blood donor club is giving a hand in developing National health project.
Over one hundred and forty blood bottles were donated to the patients in National hospitals such as Yangon Central Hospital. Yangon Western Hospital, Children hospital, North Oakkalapa Hospital, Central Women Hospital, No.(2) Army Hospital(Dagon), and private specialized medical centers such as Shin Par Ku, Baho Si, Asia Royal, UHC, without collecting any money from them.
In such blood donations, miscellaneous expenses such as blood testing, blood bags, transportation fees, food and drinks are used and given out by only donation money. The club has never collected money from any patient.
Doctors, nurses, Dr.Daw Thida Aung from National blood center, staffs from Blood Bank, Other social organizations and patients appreciate the club since such social works were operated in anywhere, at anytime, for any race and for anyone who is rich or poor.
Sadly, the club has been informed that some top members of a Semi-NGO of Ahlone who envy the popularity of the club did a report anonymously to the Ahlone Police station in October. According to the real meaning behind the report, the club has been persuading and recruiting the youths in order to act the political tasks.
Patients, blood donors, volunteer staffs and red-cross members are relating to the clubs to function blood donation and search people who are willing to donate blood. Such people involve in the activities not because of political scenarios, but because of their humanity and passions to help to the public.
The club members are puzzled because there are people who want to devastate those kindly social works in spite of giving a hand to the new generation youths who are really into helping the public. We hold a belief that it is a shame to raise and trigger that type of untrue report by taking mislead advantages on friendliness with the township authorities and organizations.
In taking considerations of such a shameful false report, the club strongly criticizes similar actions. Therefore, The Raven blood donor club announces that the club would legally still perform the events of social works such as blood donation.

Our Raven BDC donated a bottle of type A blood at October 11th, 2007. A 19-years-old girl who lives in Ahlone Township was the patient that needed blood after giving birth.

The patient's family has asked for help since the day before at the Raven BDC domain. Raven BDC had listed the O blood donors at that that so, we were able to give a positive answer to the family. Therefore, at 10:30 AM on October 11th, Raven BDC sent the donor to the Women's General Hospital where the donor went through the necessary procedures before donating blood. The results came out at 11:30 AM and the blood transfusion started. After everything was done, Raven BDC sent the donor home. We reached back to the club at 12:30 PM.

Our club happened to donate a bottle of AB blood at October 9th, 2007 to a 3-years-old child patient from Bahan Township, who was in Children's hospital for Dengue fever. The parents asked once whether we could wait at the hospital overnight for blood transfusion at last October 3rd but it turned out that the blood transfusion wasn't needed anymore.

This time a parent came to the club at 8:30 pm to ask whether the donor could stay overnight to donate blood like last time. So, a member and a donor went to the hospital with the parent and they arrived at the hospital by 9 pm. They waited at the hospital the whole night and at 4:30 am the next morning, they were informed that the blood transfusion was needed then. The necessary tests were done and they waited for the test results to come out. The results were normal so the transfusion was done immediately. Both the donor and the member got back to their destinations by 7 am. This time it was worthy to wait the whole night at hospital.

Our Raven BDC donated one bottle of A type blood at October 8th, 2007 to a 3-years-old child from Pathein who was being hospitalized at Children's Hospital for Leukaemia. The parents called from the hospital at 3 pm asking whether we could provide them with A type blood. We called up the donor but the donor wasn't at home. While we waited for the donor to call back, the parents came to the club to ask for help so, we had to comfort them by telling them that we would bring the donor to the hospital as soon as possible and that they could go back and wait at the hospital. One member called up the donor and luckily, the member was home then so, we could inform the donor about the need at the hospital. When the donor arrived at the club, a member and the donor went out the hospital and both were there by 4 pm. The doctors measured the blood pressure and did the necessary tests. As soon as the blood results were out, which were normal, the blood transfusion was done. It started at about 4:30 pm and everything was done by 5 pm. After that, the donor was sent back home.

Our Raven BDC was able to donate one bottle of A type blood at October 5th, 2007. The patient who needed it was as 37-years-old male from Thayet Kone village located inside Kawa Township in Pago Division. He was being hospitaled in Yangon General Hospital for Gastric Bleeding.

Because we were asked if we could donate A type blood at 7:30 pm from Yangon General Hospital, we contacted the donor and went out to the hospital at 8 pm. The hemoglobin percentage in blood and blood pressure were measure when we got there. The results of all the tested needed to do before donating blood came out at 9 pm. The results came out normal so the blood transfusion started. When it was done, the donor was sent home by the patient's family.

Raven BDC donated 1 bottle of type A blood at October 3, 2007. The patient was an 8-years-old girl from Myaung Mya who was being administered at the Children's Hospital for a blood disorder. Actually we weren't there for her. We were there for another patient also hospitalized in the same hospital as her but fortunately for her, the parents found out about us and asked for our help so, we were able to donate blood for the girl.

The children's hospital called Raven BDC for a bottle of AB blood at 12 noon on that day, and we gladly could reply to the hospital that there was a donor available at that time. The patient's family asked if the donor could stay overnight. So, we told the family to call us back at about half-an-hour and asked the donor if he wish to stay overnight to donate blood and the donor wanted to help in any way necessary. So, we were able to reply the positive answer back to the family. Raven BDC took the donor to the Children's hospital at 4 pm in the evening and waited there together with the donor.

While we were waiting, it was informed that another patient was in need of a bottle of type A blood and asked if we could help. So, one member took the responsibility to find a donor for that case. That member went back to the Raven BDC to find the donor and came back to the hospital with the donor at 5 pm. The blood pressure was tested and at 6:30 pm, the blood transfusion started when the necessary test results were out. By the time the transfusion ended, it was already 7 pm and Raven BDC sent the donor home. The AB blood donor waited at the hospital with a member from Raven BDC whole night but it was informed at 6 am the next morning that the blood transfusion is no longer needed. So, the member and the donor took a cab back home. Although the AB blood donor who waited the whole night didn't get the chance to donate blood, we were able to provide one bottle of A type blood to the needed one.

Raven BDC donated one bottle of type A blood at October 2nd 2007. The patient was a 2-years-old Karen child admitted at the Children's Hospital with a Blood disorder who lives in Hin Thar Kone Village of Bagon Division.

The patient's parents called in from the Children's hospital at about 1:00 pm in the afternoon asking whether if Raven BDC could provide a bottle of A type blood. So, we searched for a volunteer donor and a member of the BDC took the donor to the Children's hospital. At the hospital, the blood pressure was measured and only at around 3 pm that the donor's blood was sent for testing. At 4:30 pm, the test results were out. The blood was in perfect condition so, at 5 pm they did the actual blood donation. After that, the donor was treated and sent home by us, Raven BDC.

At 9th of August, Raven Blood Donor Club has conducted a seminar about Hepatitis B and Reproduction Health in Mya Thein Gi Nun residence, Pearl new town, Mingalardon township.

Mya Thein Gi Nun residence is not an orphanage, but a learning place for the children who have been facing difficulties in their education. It was established since Year 1360 according to Myanmar Calender. There were 32 nuns and 35 children at the time of establishment. At first, it must have interlinked with another Nun residence from Pyi Road. The Mya Thein Gi Nun residence has been approved by the government at 19th of May 2002. It was opened as a Nun-teaching school for girls. Being a post-primary school, the children can learn only from primary 1 to primary 7. It mainly focused on girls, and boys can attend only in junior classes. 368 students and 50 nuns have been learning in 2006-2007 Academic Year. Children are accepted since from 3 years old. The nun residence pays all the expenses of Education for the children. It also takes the responsibility for clothings and health of the children beside the education.

Members were informed to go to the nun residence at 9:00 in the morning. However, one member could not manage to come on time. Therefore, a taxi was hired and started leaving at 10:00 a.m. Transportation fees was 8,000 Kyats. The car could not reach to the nun residence directly, so three members including me hired a trishaw to reach to there. A friend live in a place on the way going to the residence. It was 1,200 Kyats for two trishaws. The nuns asked whether the seminar would be conducted first or have the meals first.

We said that the seminar would be held first. The arranged place for the seminar were observed, and it was found out unsuitable. Therefore, students of primary 4 to secondary 7 were placed in the two-stories building.

Health Education Seminar for Hepatitis B was started, and the students participated in the Q&A session. Total duration was about 50 minutes.

In the same building, two groups were formed according to the gender after the seminar. A male teacher and a female teacher shared knowledges of Reproduction and Health to the boy students and the girl students respectively. Virginity period was the main focused topic. It included physical changes, mental changes and environmental changes. Girls were given knowledge about Menstruation Cycles.

The seminar was successfully ended at 2:00 p.m. Lunch have been had around 3:30 p.m, and leave the nun residence.

We have been thinking to give Raven BDC keychain to blood donors for every time that they have donated blood. We also discussed wither other members about this. Jade Ribbon

Raven Blood Donor Club distributes pamphlets that educate people about Hepatitis-B. The pamphlet is designed by Ko Maung Young from Native Forum. His ideas, creativity and supports help the club to create such a health educational pamphlet. The club would like to thank to the members of Native forum who collect and donate the fund which is needed for the pamphlet. A hundred at Aung Thu Kha Meditation Center in Than Hlyin, A hundred at a donation in Kyite Htaw village of Kawt Mu, a hundred at CBI Library, fifty at MUSFEX group, fifty in Myanmar Info Tech, fifty among the students from MC2. If the educational pamphlets are required, send an email which include address and addressee. The club will send the pamphlets, via mail, as Jade Ribbon action. Most know red ribbon for AIDS. Jade Ribbons represent Hepatitis-B terminating action.

Prevention
For awareness raising and reducing the stigma and discrimination of HIV/AIDS, TB, Malaria and Hepatitis B (HBV) to targeted community, RAVEN provides health education sessions, distributes pamphlets and condoms. For reducing and preventing STD, RAVEN also provides RH education sessions and distributing pamphlets to targeted groups.

Referral
In order to get proper treatment, RAVEN provides referral service to the patients to get access to the proper health service.

Care and Support
To reduce the discrimination, RAVEN provides home based care and support for those PLHA, TB, Malaria patients and their families physically as well as mentally.

Blood Donation
To save the life with safe-blood, RAVEN provides the recruiting the voluntary non-remunerated blood donors whenever patients need the safe-blood transfusing. In order to get safe-blood, RAVEN also provides the accessories such as the cost of diagnostics for HIV, Hepatitis B and C virus and blood bags for those patients who are poor. RAVEN is trying to create a bigger network of voluntary non-remunerated blood donors to fulfill the safe-blood requirements.
